Allow Creation & Budgeting Towards Sub-Categories

Categories are great for budgeting into, but sometimes, a category can be pretty nebulous if I want to track things really specifically. As an example, vacation as a category. Say I budget $1,500 for my vacation... maybe I want to drill down into what each of those $1,500 goes towards. I'd like to see the option (in the example above) to have sub-cateogies like "Vacation - Hotels & Stays" with a balance of $1,000... another called "Vacation - Dining & Drinks" with a balance of $250... and a final one "Vacation - Entertainment" with a balance of $250.

This would be great and could be implemented with “tags” for a transaction. You could set up different tags for each category.

Casey Elliott: Yeah, tags are the way we'll go if we implement something like this. I think 2 levels is deep enough for most. Adding a 3rd is too much. But tags would be the perfect middle ground. Use them if you wish, or don't. 🫡 thanks

Just to mention, in doing some personal testing, this is technically possible today by having your "primary categories" treated as groups, where each budget category is treated as the "sub-category". This does have limitations like being unable to assign dollars to a group, but, for those that are really interested in this capability, doing the above does work pretty well in my opinion!
